Intoducing PASS

"You passed the test. That’s a good start, but you’re having difficulty with Assessment-type questions. We’ll need to work on this. When I reviewed your Student Profile and Study Habits Checklist, I could see that your other time commitments are most likely hindering your ability to study properly. We’ll have to address this as well. Now, let’s review the Action Plan that I drafted for you."

PASS is a resource for nursing teachers who wish to help their students in writing short-answer and multiple choice tests.

It is designed to assess a student's performance on a written test and develop an individualized Action Plan for improvement. It consists of an assessment phase (Performance Assessment) and an intervention phase (Strategies for Success).

Performance Assessment Strategies for Success

The PASS Excel grid generates a picture of the student’s performance on a written test. We call this the Student Performance Assessment Graph (SPAG).

Complementary Assessment Tools provide additional data about the student:

Based on the data gathered by means of the Performance Assessment (SPAG and Complementary Assessment Tools), an individualized Action Plan is developed collaboratively by the teacher and the student that employ a variety of Strategies for Success.
