Strategies for Success

It's time to bring it all together.

The short-term goal of PASS is to help the student pass the next test. To do so, we need to build an individualized plan for success, in collaboration with the student. We refer to this individualized plan as the student's Action Plan.

We believe that PASS, in the One-on-One context, works for two reasons:

  • The Action Plan is tailor-made, according to the student's specific assessment data gathered from the Student Performance Assessment Graphs and Complementary Assessment Tools.
  • A collaborative relationship develops between teacher and student. Students are more motivated when they believe that their teacher is invested in their success.

In our experience, the combination of individualized feedback and one-on-one interaction between student and teacher increases a student's confidence and chances for success.

We have found that when students feel secure in their relationship with the teacher, they gain insight into themselves as learners and feel empowered to make decisions about their self-development. This is another step towards the end goal of PASS: metacognition, becoming independent and self-directed learners.
