How does PASS benefit the student?

The detailed assessment of the student's performance combined with the individualized Action Plan for success helps the student to:

  • Gain a more complete picture of oneself as a learner.
  • Recognize strengths and weaknesses on a written test.
  • Improve study habits through self-reflection and guidance by the teacher.
  • Develop the test-taking skills that are necessary for answering complex nursing test questions.

An integral part of PASS is the quality of the relationship that we develop with the students. When we interact with students, we focus on what they do well before looking at areas that need improvement. This is intended to engage them in the process and stimulate an awareness of themselves as learners. We have found that, ultimately, this helps to build their self-confidence.

As we worked with these students, our admiration for their strength and determination was boundless. We know so little of the daily challenges that our students face. Witnessing students achieve success is the best gift a teacher can receive.
